MULTIMEDIA CONTEST RULES & INFORMATION
2008 THEME: Patriotic
April 4, 2008 entry deadline.
Entries collected through Utah high schools.

The Freedom Festival Multimedia contest has joined with the Utah High School Film and Video contest.
We are inviting students to submit a patriotic PSA of 60 seconds. This
is an additional category in the Utah High School Film Contest.
Monetary prizes will be awarded in this category.
Purpose: The Freedom Festival encourages students
to educate themselves about the principles required to establish and
maintain freedom, examples of people obtaining and preserving freedom,
and the opportunities and challenges it entails.
Each entry must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Media: Students are invited to creatively communicate their understanding of the theme (patriotic) through various media, video, audio, Powerpoint, Flash, animation, slideshow.
- Entries:
Each student may submit only one entry (but may also participate in the
Speech or Essay contest). Up to three students may work on a media
entry.
- Eligibility: The contest is open to all Utah high school
students (public, private or home schools). Up to 3 students may work
together on a single entry; any award will be split evenly between the
team members.
- Format: Each entry must be self-contained on mini dv video tape at SP (standard play).
- Theme: Each entry should present a patriotic theme.
- Time Length: 60 seconds. Points will be deducted for seconds over or under the limit.
- Standards: Each entry should contain material suitable for a family audience and should not contain objectionable material.
- Copyright: Each entry must adhere to fair use guidelines. See www.lib.byu.edu/departs/copyright.
- Originality: Each entry must be the student’s own work.

Judging criteria: Entries will be judged on
adherence to theme, originality, storyline, and technical merit,
(timing, spacing, aesthetics, staging, etc).
Winning Entries will be shown and announced at the May 1 Speech
Contest, 4pm and 7pm, Provo City Bldg, 351 W Center, Provo, UT.
Winning entries will be announced at the Utah High School Film and
Video Festival event.
