Few words ring as patriotic in the ears of Americans as these:
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back,
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.
In
the spirit of our number one pastime, America's Freedom Festival will
present the 2008 Firecracker Softball Tournament. Men's and women's
teams are invited to this USSSA sanctioned event. A sliding
self-classifying bracket format will be used to provide quality
competition for all team classifications. All teams will be guaranteed
three games.
Firecracker Tournament director Shellianne
Davis says each team is important. "We just want people to come out and
have fun," Davis says. "You can lose two games and still be playing
somewhere." Trophies, shirts and equipment bags sponsored by MVP Sports
are given to the top three teams in the "A" bracket and the top two
teams in the "B".
The women's tournament will be June 20-21.
The men's tournament will be June 27-28. Both tournaments will be held
at Footprinters Softball Complex. Contact Provo Parks and Recreation
