Where do I park on Race Morning?

Close parking is a challenge. To park near the Kiwanis park, we encourage you to park in the big BYU parking lots surrounding the law school, surrounding the Taylor building on 9th East and around the elementary school. Some side street parking can be found as well. We prohibit parking on the race route. If you are running the 5K, you might want to park in the parking lots near the 5K start at 800N and 600E (approach from the south as 800 N will be closed). Just remember that you will have to get your packet from Kiwanis Park pavilion if you haven’t already picked it up.

Can I wear headphones while I run?

Hmmm. Can you chew bubble gum and walk? Sure, wear your music. We know that USATF got excited about head phones for a couple of years, but they have softened their stance now. We don’t mind if you wear your music so long as you are able to hear instructions from others. We prefer one ear bud in and one ear bud out if you are listening to music.

So what is the exciting add for this year?

We are always looking for ways to improve. The narrowed start of the 5K should spread people out and give them more running room. New decorations for the finish area are planned. Dividing the road between 5ker’s and 10ker’s is also planned.

What if I lose my chip?

Well, the chips are expensive to us. We need them back. We know occasionally that the chips get lost or misplaced. We don’t try to gouge you for $20, 30 or even $50. We just try to recoup the cost. We ask that you send us $5 for any lost chips.

Who is in charge of this thing?

Well the entire committee is made up of volunteers. Craig Simons and Scott Summers lead the team. They are ones to complain to. If you have a compliment, please share it with any of the volunteers! The Freedom Festival hosts the whole event. They endure the financial risk and use the proceeds (if we don’t spend it all on great stuff for the runners) to support the other freedom festival events.

How will you award the St. George Marathon Entry?

We have a St. George Marathon entry! We will give it to the volunteer that brings the most volunteer hours to the event. Your hours count as well as those who you get to volunteer with you. If you are interested contact Scott at the email below.

I am a vendor, can I get involved?

Sure, we are planning to set aside a section of the park for folks that want to put up a canopy to share information about their event or about their product. Contact us and we will get things rolling.

Can I be a sponsor?

Can you tell we seeded this one in here? SURE! We would love to have more sponsors. We have great space reserved on our huge finish arch for sponsor banners. You can see logos from some of our fine sponsors on the bottom of this page.

Have other questions? Send us an email and maybe we will post an answer here.
