The Course

The I Mile Fun Run stays entirely within Kiwanis Park. Ninety percent of the run is on grass. This makes it a real challenge for strollers or anything that has wheels. We don’t recommend pushing the kiddies on this one! The race starts along side of the Finish line and runs the perimeter of the Kiwanis park, including the ball diamond on the west side of the park. The last 200 yards are back on pavement where you can sprint to the finish line.

Awards

Overall awards are given to the top three male and female finishers. These are really nice awards! In addition we have age group awards in the following categories: 1-3,4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14 and over. With the race starting at 7:00, we hope to start doing awards at 7:40 at our band stand.

Timing

Timing is done via “chip” timing. Each participant will receive an RFID chip that they will ziptie to their shoe. This technology allows us to capture your time from the start gun till when you cross the finish line. Make sure you don’t lose you chip. We need them back at the end of the race!

Finisher Medals

We hope to have finisher medals again this year. We didn’t have them last year because we did water bottle instead. Many folks requested that we bring them back. So, we are working on it. We will update this page once we know for sure.

We also like the finisher water bottles from last year. Our committee is chewing on which one to offer this year (or maybe both). Again, many folks thought water bottle were keen. So, we are thinking about it. We will update this page once we know for sure.

Post Race Food

We will load up on post-race refreshments. It is tough to have a full selection of everything by the end of the race. No guarantees, but we will do our best to keep everything stocked to the very end.

Strollers

We really discourage wheeled vehicles for the 1 Mile Fun Run. They are just too hard to push on the grass, and there is a curb to get over. However, if you insist on doing it, just remember… we told you so… We require that you start at the back of the pack. Strollers can really jam up the works and we really don’t want any collisions between runners and strollers. Please be very attentive of all the runners and walkers around you.
