We hope that part of your Independence Day celebration includes our Freedom Run 10K, 5K or the Mayor’s one mile Fun Run. The annual run has become an integral part of America’s Freedom Festival as thousands of participants at all levels and abilities join this invigorating event. After some inquiry about the history of the Freedom Run and have come to the conclusion that the Freedom Run has been held in Provo since about WWII. If you have any information about the early history of the Freedom Run, we would love to hear from you.
These past several years have been really fun! The race has improved each year. The number of runners has increased as well. We believe that we will have 6,400 runners this year. Now wouldn’t that be an awesome sight! Tell your friends! let’s break 6,400.
We encourage you to get decked out in patriotic garb for the run. We have seen a lot of great costumes and would love to see more. “Uncle Sam” running on stilts is a crowd favorite. Give us some Red, White and Blue!
We are working on some great additions for the race this year. We will continue with cool running shirts. The finisher’s medal is pretty neat as well. We aim to be the best running event in Utah. If you have an idea of how we can improve, please send us your suggestion. Also, if you would like to get involved with the rest of us volunteers, drop us a line. We would love the help.
