Flag Day
We invite you to a night of honor for Fire Fighters, Police, Safety Officers, Paramedic First Responders, with Special Guest Speaker, Our Provo City Mayor, Michelle Kaufusi. Mayor Kaufusi symbolizes everything the Freedom Festival is about and is her everyday example of Sacrifice to God, Family, and Country. Mayor Kaufusi has distinguished us with the national honor of one of the “Best Cities to live in America” along with several National recognitions as best run cities in American and most innovative Mayor in the country. We will highlight our youth, Children of the American Revolution, Provo Royalty performance, and will include entertainment, education, and personal sacrifices as each Flag is honored with a story as it rests its history to flames of dignity honoring the Fire Department and Police Department an as Paramedics. We welcome ALL and encourage you to wear your scout uniforms and dress patriotically representing your organizations, city and country!

Retiring Flags

According to the U.S. Flag Code, “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”  Note: Randy D. Edwards “When we refer to “burning” the flag, we replace burn to “retire.” “Retiring” dignifies and respectfully consumes the flag by fire” Therefore; we do not burn the Flag, respectfully we “Retire the Flag.”
