Fine Art Exhibit
If the mark of an outstanding community is measured in its culture, then Provo adds a notch every year in the Fine Art Exhibit at America’s Freedom Festival. Now in its fourteenth year, the exhibition has received increased support from both the community and local sponsors.
The event was founded by the Provo Arts Council with the idea of providing visual artists within the State of Utah an opportunity to familiarize the community with the diversity of artistic genres available. Response from the artist community has been enthusiastic.
Over 1,000 invitations are sent out to various artists and approximately 80 pieces are chosen for exhibit in the Covey Center for the Arts (425 W Center St, Provo). The Covey Center for the Arts recognizes first, second, and third place winners with a cash award. The Freedom Festival recognizes the most patriotic entry with a similar cash prize.
The Fine Art Exhibit Opening Reception is Friday, June 25, 2010 at 7:30pm. The exhibit is free to the public and open Mon – Thurs, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. – 2 p.m, from June 25 – July 31. Artistic talent in the mediums of painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and fiber art will be on display.
