She as she does every year went to the 4th of July Grand Parade. She sat about 700 E and Center st. Back then and up to about 15 years ago they used to set off a cannon every 2 or 3 blocks. The cannon was setup right in front of where she was sitting and boom the cannon went off and my mom went into labor. I was born around 3pm that afternoon. I can honestly say I came out with a boom. I have always had a personal connection with the Grand Parade and like my mom attend it every year... except this year of course because you are having the parade on MONDAY July 5th and I have to work. I am and have been a resident of Provo all my life and I have never had to worry about working on my birthday or the day before. In the past when the 4th was on Sunday Provo has ALWAYS held the parade on the 3rd (Saturday). This year i asked for the 3rd and the 4th off back in March so I would be able to attend the Freedom Festival events and planned on attending the parade until I read the paper on June 26th and found out that the parade is on Monday. I am very upset about this and have decided to spend the 3rd and 4th in Idaho (Pocatello have better and FREE fireworks and the parade on the 4th) I just cannot believe that the Freedom Festival committee members are so closed minded that they assume that everyone is okay with the 4th of July events does not include the 4th of July.
